Necrotone is one of three new tracks being released in October on Eight Tracks. This is my first digital only release and I’m pretty excited. After focusing on Hawke albums for much of the last 10 years, it’s gonna be good to circulate some fresh dance music.
Necrotone was recorded in San Diego in my underwear late at night when I couldn’t find sleep. Later, Alien Tom helped out with mixing the track. It sounds like records I liked to play at Tickle Torture, though it’s definitely has more of a Hardkiss melodic touch.
DJ support has been phenomenal …. Sasha (“excellent”), Sandy Rivera (“Will support”), Jay West (“Trippy tunes, I love it”), Hernan Cattaneo (“Very good”), Murray Richardson (“Well into all of this EP!”), Harri/Sub Club, Matt/Dark Globe (“excellent”), and Makossa & Megablast/G Stone (“Excellent … Will play for sure.”)
The Knight of the Hawke Fields EP is now available through Beatport and there’s also a cool little interview at Beatportal

iDJ had this to say about the new release:
…. tweaks the cinematic buttons with no small aplomb, unhurried and slouchier than a teenager with an attitude problem.
nice!!
Gavin,
I love the new E.P. with Necrotone! Your new sound is fresh, yet familiar. Seriously, the new material is as good as your Namaquadisco material and the Monk for a Day EP (which I’m still kicking myself in the butt for losing).
glad you’re enjoying some of the new sounds …. just wrapping up a remix for yousour n’dour which i’m sure you’ll enjoy too …. there are a few african related on the way.
